Ranger Solo IDS build
So, I got annoyed and decided to make a build with which I could use my ranger/mesmer to solo farm IDS' - absorbtion warriors should get to have all the fun.
Anyway, for this build, it seems that once you're in the imp cave it's easy running, because with full fur lined armor and elemental resistance (both necessary) I take very little damage - and with a +10 troll it's hard to die.
However, since troll is the only self heal, you need high wilderness survival, which means no marksmanship (ie this is not a barrage build). In order to do enough damage, I went with ignite arrows and poison arrow (the elite), so the imps get poisoned, and ignite does a semi decent job with aoe damage, and it's fire, so works well on the imps.
the full skillbar is ignite, poison arrow, distracting shot, storm chaser, dodge, troll, ele resistance, and for the last one i put in hex breaker, but you could put in whatever else in there if you wanted to (hex breaker just so i don't get super owned trying to run past the ice golem and ice imp on the way).
Anyway, I've tried this twice in a row, and made it there both times (i died once on the way, but it wasn't a problem), and cleaned out the whole cave - however, i'm yet to have an IDS drop for me ... anyway, it will come with time.
If people want I can post the route i took, but it's fairly straightforwad, you can find another map if you search google or something.
Also, with 12 base attribute points in WS and Ex, you have limitless storm chaser/dodge - it lasts forever - so running there shouldn't be too much of a problem, just be careful about the one golemn you come accross.
Thanks, and good luck with it - if I can figure out how to make a fraps movie that compresses to a useful size (my last one compressed to 40mb, but was only 1:30ish long, and crappy quality - any tips on programs/codecs would be helpful)

Hello Sol,
I trid this on my Ranger Mesmer last night, and I failed.
I don't have enough Fur saved up for a new set of armor, so I just tried with my Druids. I could barely make it out of the valey, just north of Granite Citadel. By the time I made it to the Ice Golems I was dead.
I'll admint that as far as running goes I'm a noob, but I thought I gould at least make it to MS without too much effort.
Any hits or tips would be appreciated. Maybe a clue about running...
Thanks
